Melissa Farmer-Hill
Founder
Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Retired) Melissa Farmer-Hill hails from Chicago, Illinois, and boasts a distinguished active-duty military career spanning two decades from 1994-2014 in the United States Army.
For most of her career, Melissa served as a Human Resources Technician with deployments in Iraq and Kosovo. She played a pivotal role in helping the Army achieve it’s recruiting mission as Chief of the Warrant Officer Recruiting Team. Melissa takes pride in her contribution to shaping the next generation of Warrant Officers as a Human Resources Warrant Officer Instructor at the Soldier Support Institute in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, where she was also awarded AG Corps Warrant Officer of the Year while serving in that capacity. However, her career reached a pinnacle when she was selected to serve as Warrant Officer Advisor to the Secretary of the Army under the Honorable John M. McHugh at the Pentagon. Other achievements include being a recipient of The Douglas McArthur Leadership Award (Germany) and receiving the US Army TRADOC Warrant Officer Instructor of the Year Award.
Her outstanding service has garnered her over 20 military awards and decorations which include the Legion of Merit, her highest honor and the coveted Air Assault Badge.
Her book “Army Strong Women” represents the untold stories of countless women who have served our country and the challenges, prejudices and opportunities they faced undertaking a military career.
Ms. Farmer-Hill holds a Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
She is a lifetime member of the Benjamin O. Davis VFW Post 311, National Women Veterans United (NWVU) and the Verna L. Jones American Legion Post #478 and has an unwaivering commitment to service and community.
